What is the Revelation Universal Driver Lite?

The Revelation Universal Driver Lite is a product specifically designed for runtime applications with 1 - 3 users on a network. It is comprised of two parts: a special version Universal Driver, with all the features that the Universal Driver provides, plus a Revelation OpenInsight Oengine that brings your application to a total of three users.

How is this different than, say the normal Universal Driver and a three-user Server Deployment Pack?

There are two important differences. The first – the Universal Driver Lite will not allow more than three concurrent users – even if you were to apply it to a site that has more than three users. The second – the Universal Driver Lite is substantially cheaper than a Universal Driver and a three-user Server Deployment Pack.

What Versions of OpenInsight is the Universal Driver Lite for?

OpenInsight 4.1.3 and above.

What Windows Operating Systems will the workstations need to be?

Windows NT, 2000 or XP.

Will the Universal Driver Lite work on a Windows Server or a Novell Server or a Linux server?

Yes. The Universal Driver Lite will run on all the Network Operating systems the Universal Driver will run on.

The Universal Driver Lite cannot be upgraded. What happens if our three-user site needs to add more users?

At that point in time, you can contact Revelation. There will be a pricing plan in place for people who wish to stop using the Universal Driver Lite and use the more mainstream Network products and Server Deployment Packs.

What if a developer deploys a later version of his software and wants to upgrade existing Universal Driver Lite users to that later version?

You will be able to upgrade the version of OpenInsight with no problem, but the Universal Driver Lite will not be able to be upgraded.

What are the installation procedures for the Universal Driver Lite?

1. Deploy a single user runtime version of your application at a site. 
2. Purchase the Universal Driver Lite. 
3. Install the Network Portion of the Universal Driver Lite (Client and Server portions). 
4. Contact Revelation with the Universal Driver Lite serial number – you will receive a three-user Oengine in return. 5. Replace the Oengine.dll with the one emailed by Revelation.

Then you will be all set.
